5 Ways to Get Back on Track When You’ve Lost Consistency

In this article about getting back on track with your weight loss goals, we will discuss the top 5 ways such as…

  1. Revisit your why
  2. Environment is everything
  3. Make it cute
  4. Start small
  5. Have a plan

If you have found that you’ve strayed from your health goals just a little this summer, you’re not alone. It’s common to indulge whilst on vacation and spending more time with your kids, but it is never too late to get back on track with your healthy habits.

Here are my 5 favourite ways to get back on track (no matter how far off course you have gotten):

1) Revisit Your Why

Deep down, you know the real reason why you want to live a healthier life – to be able to run around with your kids, to prevent the chronic lifestyle diseases that run in your family or even just to feel super confident in your yoga pants, skinny jeans, or little black dress. Whatever your reason take a little time to reconnect to it every day, be that in the form of writing a gratitude list for the things about your health you are grateful for, writing some down concrete goals or even creating some feel-good affirmations that you say out loud every morning.

2) Environment is Everything

One of the ways that I avoid sugary treats and ultra processed foods is that I just don’t keep them in the house! The environment you inhabit plays an enormous role in your daily behaviours, and if your favorite sweet treats are always within arms reach there is no way you will be able to resist temptation. Ideally, you will not be keeping high sugar/high carb treats in the house so you don’t get tempted, but if family members in the house eat them, consider relocating them to a specific drawer or cupboard. Out of sight, out of mind really is a huge help when it comes to ditching sugar and sweet treats.

3) Make it Cute

Okay, so red faced and sweaty at the gym might not be your best look, but are you more likely to work out when you pull on your ratty pyjama shorts (guilty) or a cute pair of yoga pants that make your butt look great and pull you in at all the right places? It’s never about how you look for others, but how you feel about yourself – so treat yourself to some new workout clothes and feel good from the inside out. Lululemon will always be my go-to for yoga pants, but I love Carbon38 for more fashion forward options.

4) Start Small

It is so tempting to try and get back on track by doing all the things – signing up for a 10k, doing a bone broth fast, purchasing a package of 20 infrared sauna sessions and aiming to get 10 hours of sleep a night. But believe me, all this is going to do is make you feel exhausted, overwhelmed and like a failure, as no-one does all of those things all of the time. To actually improve your health you need small, consistent habits for success that you can build on, such as eating a blood sugar balancing, protein rich breakfast every day. And I have the exact resource to help your do that – click here to access my new Fat Burning Breakfasts Masterclass.

5) Have a Plan

It can be daunting to plan out meals in advance or figure out exactly what to buy at the grocery store, especially in light of the deluge of information (and mis-information) about what we should eat that we are shown on social media every day. Because of this I have created a my new Fat Burning Breakfasts Masterclass to help your understand exactly how much protein to eat every morning to boost your metabolism throughout the day and how to plan and prep your fat burning breakfasts in advance to save you time and energy. You’ll even get the chance to have me review your meal planner and get some personalized metabolic health boosting tips.
