The Skinny on Sugar: Turkey Sweet Potato Shepherd’s Pie

Each week Tim and I plan a healthy date night, take one of our favourite comfort food recipes and put a lighter, cleaner, gluten free and dairy free #JennyApproved spin on it. And I don’t know about you, but I am definitely craving healthy comfort food right now!

This week was the turn of one of my favourite healthy recipes from my new sugar detox clean eating meal plan, The Skinny on Sugar.

This easy, family-friendly Turkey Sweet Potato Shepherd’s Pie recipe can be assembled ahead of time, then baked in the oven when you are ready to eat. We made this a one-pan meal by sauteeing the turkey and vegetables in a large skillet, topping with the sweet potato mash and baking in the oven, which saved on dishes afterward!

Clean Eating Turkey Sweet Potato Shepherd’s Pie

(serves 2-4)

Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

Boil the sweet potatoes in a large pan of salted water until soft.
Whilst the potatoes are boiling heat the avocado oil, and saute the zucchini, onion, celery, carrots, and garlic until soft. Add the turkey, salt, pepper, sage, and the Bare Bones Broth Instant Beverage Mix and cook until browned.

Drain and mash the potatoes, then spread on top of the turkey mixture. Top with the paprika, and bake in the oven for 15 minutes.

This recipe is gluten-free, dairy-free, sugar-free, Paleo, Whole30, and low carb. For more healthy, sugar-free recipes check out my latest program, The Skinny on Sugar! The Skinny on Sugar is a 7 day sugar detox designed to end your sugar cravings for good:
