Sugar-Free Smoothie Recipe: Mocha Maple Breakfast Smoothie

Processed with VSCO with c3 preset

Healthy breakfast smoothies like this sugar-free mocha one are a key tool in my Lean and Clean Program for women’s weight loss. They make breakfast my favourite part of the day!

When I first posted this sugar-free smoothie recipe on my Instagram feed so many of you messaged me saying it was one of the best breakfast healthy smoothies you’d tried. So, I had to share it with you here, too! Whilst it’s called a Mocha Maple Smoothie, the name is slightly deceptive. It can actually be made caffeine free—I use my favorite decaf coffee in it. It’s also sugar free (yes, even though it uses maple syrup), so it will satisfy any morning sweet cravings without spiking your blood sugar.

Keeping our protein smoothies varied and interesting can be challenging. After all, Tim and I have a smoothie every morning for a healthy breakfast option, and have done for many years. I would get bored of having the same one day after day, so I’m always inventing new combinations that go beyond the standard green or fruit smoothie. Thrive Market is my go-to shop when I’m looking for #jennyapproved ingredients to try out in my smoothies. That’s where I found the sugar-free maple syrup from Lakanto that I used in this recipe. It’s also where I discovered the Swiss-water-processed coffee from Kicking Horse. (Swiss water processing is a gentle, chemical-free way of removing caffeine from coffee, so it’s always my choice for a decaf coffee.)
